Aisha Kumar Entry #4 Creating my Poster

This week i mainly just helped out around the lab, and did work to help people work more efficiently. I helped people make and label slides to put brains on after they cut it, and prepare test tubes for other experiments. One of the post- docs, Amy, helped me edit and construct my poster for EXP. She helped me understand specifically which antibodies i used last week, and exactly what they did with the tissue. We made this chart to help tie everything together.

Primary Antibody
Secondary Antibody
Cell Type
Fluorescein-conjugated Lycoperiscon esculentum (tomato) Lectin
None
Fluorescent endothelial cells marker
Anti-Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein GFAP (mouse)
Donkey anti-mouse 488

Anti-CD13 (goat)

Fluorescent pericytes marker
Anti-alpha smooth muscle Actin (rabbit)
Donkey anti-rabbit 567

I took more pictures of the slides I stained last week, and made a presentation which includes the pictures, and what it shows the hippocampus,  and the axons and neurons within the brain.

Gwyneth also came this past weekend, and it was  fun to show her around LA with Nicki, as well as have a fun fourth of July together! I cant believe there is only one week remaining!
